"When the sun illuminated the lens of the Telectroscope next to the Thames, it was, of course, still nighttime in New York. So the screen inside the scope broadcast back only an empty sidewalk silently framed by the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline.

But then something miraculous occurred.

A police officer and a street cleaner walked into the frame. Stopped. And waved.

The Telectroscope will be on display and open to the public 24 hours a day in London and New York until June 15. Artichoke is arranging requests to synchronize special reunions between friends and family or, the company hopes, maybe even a marriage proposal."

Banksy's latest and the biggest work in London so far - his response to the "Big Brother" society that this city has become.

But, oh the irony! Neither the CCTV camera, nor the 24-hours security officer at the Post Office depot spotted a 3 storey scaffold being erected in their yard for 2 days, hiding the elusive artist behind a polythene sheet.

So, are we increasingly being watched or ignored as much as possible?

The Ultimate Love Story or The Utter Madness?

Nathaniel Bentley, a successful ironmonger from Leadenhall Street was about to marry the love of his life, when all of a sudden she died the night before the big day.

Heartbroken, Nathaniel locked the room where his wedding feast was set up, leaving the food on the tables to rot. He never washed nor changed his clothes since. After the death of his cats, they were left laying around the house untill they turned into mummies! He became a local legend and an ispiration for Dickens' Miss Havisham (Great Expectations ).

Later on, the items from Nathaniel's house were bought by a pub landlord who turned this eccentric story into a profitable business. Renaming the pub "Dirty Dicks" and displaying the decaying items (including the dead cats) around its rooms, he made it into the one of the most grotesque, yet most popular public houses in London.

Elfin Oak

Elfin Oak is a 900-year-old tree stump situated just outside Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens. The tree was transferred from Richmond Park to its present address in 1928.

Although difficult to notice at first, as it stands within an iron cage (to prevent vandalism), the tree is decorated by a unusual bunch of creatures, work of illustrator Ivor Innes, who together with his wife Elsie, published the book "The Elfin Oak of Kensington Gardens" in 1930.

1996 is the year of the last restoration which happened thanks to the late comedy genius Spike Milligan.

Cracking art!

This 167-metre long crack in the floor of Tate Modern's Turbine Hall is not a work of 'cowboy builders' but rather an unusual creation of Colombian artist Doris Salcedo. It represents racial hatred and divisions within society.

Opened seven weeks ago, it claimed 15 victims already, due to the width of the crack that is in some places big enough for a foot or a small child to fall inside.

Tate Modern is currently considering extra measures to prevent potential injuries in the future. Exhibition closes on 6th of April next year.
